CD cover Frank Turner

Frank Turner- Poetry of the deed.

The use of black and white is used artistically though instead of in the conventional form of a painting or picture it is almost typical of a tattoo. The swallows follow along with the tattoo idea as do the ribbons that carry the title of the CD and the name of the artist. The use of red black and white colours are also the typical colours used in tattoos which are usually associated with the Punk rock scene. The picture is used well as it implis what genre the music is going to be and despite the use of monotone the picture is quite eye catching.

CD Cover Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson- Upside Down

The bright colours contrast with each other to make the picture and the writing stand out. The picture of Jack Johnson is in black and white except for his clothes which are in colour. The use of yellow is cheerful which gives the album an upbeat feel and works well with the style of music.

CD cover Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys- Whatever people say I am, that's What I'm not

The picture is devoid of any colour, the dull use of black and white is not meant to depict an artistic piece of photography but rather a gritty almost mug shot of a man smoking a cigarette. The use of the cigarette makes the picture shocking because they are not shown in pictures that will be seen by the public. Arctic Monkeys is in a lower case curled script which does not match the picture and also implies the name is not really important. The name of the CD is not shown on the front but rather on the spine which makes the picture seem like the most important aspect of the cover. /the picture is used well to attract attention and to make sure people remember the cover because it is quite shocking.
